Where did you live previously: Phoenix, Arizona. Brad is originally from Logan, West Virginia, attended University of Chicago and lived there for a few years before moving to Phoenix. Yvonne is originally from Texas and lived and worked in the SF Bay Area before moving to Phoenix.
What part of town do you live in: Amapas & Conchas Chinas
Why did you decide to move to Vallarta: We have driven along most of the Pacific coast of Mexico, Baja and mainland, as far as Huatulco, and thru much of inland Mexico as well, looking for the town that we like the best. The Puerto Vallarta area offered the best combination of the attributes we want. We love the diversity of the restaurants, the warm water beaches, the architecture of the older parts of town and the stunning landscape.
What other places did you consider: Mazatlan, Manzanillo, Puerto Escondido, Merida, Guanajuato.
What were the main reason(s) you moved here: We chose Mexico because of the people we have met in our years of travel here, and the great natural beauty of the country. Puerto Vallarta has the best combination of the attributes mentioned above, as well as relative convenience for going back and forth to the States as desired.
What are the top (3) things you have learned that you think might help someone moving to Vallarta now:
- We think that if you arrive with an open mind and a positive attitude, combined with an adventurous spirit, you can find a lot here that is rewarding and enjoyable.
- While many locals speak English well, Spanish is the language that will allow you to relate to Mexicans on a more personal level.
