Where are you living now / where are you from: Currently living in Southern CA, Ventura area. I am from the Central Coast of California and my wife is from Chicago, but calls California home
Timeframe for a move: April of 2016
Where else are you considering: Right now, nowhere else although we have researched many areas
Why Vallarta: Simple life, warm weather, cost of living and not far from family and friends
How can ExPats in Vallarta assist you: We have several questions about the area- medical insurance, dual citizenship, areas to live, etc. . We are planning on visiting in February and hope to look at property at that time. Would really appreciate the feedback.
Lived here 11 years. Best to start out with a Tourist Visa which allows you time to check out everything without many hassles. Car and medical insurance is cheaper here but a travelors policy is better for just being a tourist. You can upgrade later once you feel our the market etc. I can tell you we love it here and never would return to the USA to live and I never thought I would ever say that. The people, weather and enviroment are great here. When we first arrived there was no Costco, no Home Depot, no KFC, no Chili’s, and no Startbucks (now 7 or 8 Starbucks) and all of the rest too. Because of my background I was really concerned about crime. Now I can tell you that it is much safer here than in the USA. If you stay away from the night spots (i.e. clubs) where the druggies hang out you will be fine. One always just needs to be observant regardless of what country or city you live in.
