Larry & Robin Tennis
Employed or Retired: Employed
Status: Couple
Where are you living now / where are you from: Currently live in a small town just south of Calgary, Alberta. We purchased a property in Nuevo Vallarta 4 years ago in anticipation of retirement and enjoy many quick visits throughout the year.
Timeframe for a move: With 2 University Students we still live and work in Canada, until they are fully “launched”. Our youngest is in his second year of an Engineering degree; so our plan seems 3 years away.
Why Vallarta: We traveled to Vallarta 12 years ago and fell in love with the beach, the lifestyle and the people. There is such a diverse community that we felt Vallarta had everything we could ever want in a retirement.
How can ExPats in Vallarta assist you: We are still in the planning stages of retirement while our 3 children get comfortable with independence. Still being relatively new to the idea of retirement has left us with a ton of questions and “how to’s”. This website is shaping up to be a wealth of information and social connections to help ease us into the new life ahead. We have attended a few of the “mixers” and felt very welcomed.
Hi Larry and Robin,
Yes, it’s great when you finally get the last one through college! We live in Florida and are looking at making a move to the PV area of Mexico. We just returned from Ecuador, the number one place to retire and we just didn’t find it a place we would want to be living and enjoying. We see you bought 3 years ago. Do you rent your place? We are looing to make a move in about 2 years. Husband is retired and I have to finish a lease as I own a doggy boutique here in Florida. We have been looking around. What made you choose the city you chose in Mexico? Did you check out other places there? If you own now, was it a huge process to buy there? I heard about the titled homes and other issues. What about electric bills? Air conditioning in summer months? Do you drive your car there? Thanks for sharing.
