Where are you living now / where are you from: I am in the Phoenix, Arizona area now. I’m from the Midwest, have lived overseas before, in fact, delivered my son overseas. Have lived in the Dominican Republic, and on the east coast as well.
Timeframe for a move: So far, I have a trip planned with another lady to stay in her timeshare after Easter. I think it is on the Malecon. However, I would like to come sooner myself to look at real estate and get a feel for the neighborhoods which is my primary problem at the moment. I don’t know how to eliminate areas other than by price.
Where else are you considering: Not anyplace else.
Why Vallarta: I like the Latin Culture and an ocean view. I’m getting older and am now retired. If I want to remake my life somewhere else, the time is now. The weather, the ocean views and being on the west coast of North America are all pluses. I am learning Spanish and am looking forward to a more relaxed, less expensive lifestyle.
How can ExPats in Vallarta assist you: I would like to know what the experiences of other single retired ladies in PV have been. Is this a viable and safe location for a single person and are there opportunities to make friends and to feel part of a group or community of expats. Also, I would like to communicate with someone about what might be a good living location in terms of neighborhoods.
Hi Linda…I am living in Gilbert, Az. and am thinking of moving to PV in the spring for 5 months or so. I have many questions about medical insurance, locations to live, I’m bringing my dog and don’t know anyone. I am a single retired woman who is a bit anxious going it alone without having all the information I need. I am also concerned about developing a social group that I can connect with. I thought we might be able to share some information. I’m currently trying to find someone to rent a room in my home as my niece lives with me. Are you facing some similiar issues? Christine
