Michael & Angela S
Employed or Retired: Employed
Where are you living now / where are you from: Philadelphia suburbs (Hatboro, PA)
Timeframe for a move: We would like to visit soon, and if we like it within the next two years we are looking to purchase a small condo near the water for a vacation home, and slowly transition to full time in PV (depending on employment options this process might be very fast, or a little more slow).
Where else are you considering: Cuenca, Ecuador, although if I have to move while still employed with my USA-based company this may not be feasible (PV is much closer to my company headquarters).
Why Vallarta: My wife and I are intrigued by the “resort” feel, proximity to the beach, climate, Mexican culture, strong expat community, condos that appear to meet USA-standards, and proximity to the USA.
How can ExPats in Vallarta assist you: My wife and I will need to work for the next 15 years or so, so we will either need to move with a USA-based job or find employment within Puerto Vallarta. Does Mexico frown upon expats finding Mexico-based employment, or are we free to find work there? I am an attorney (working as in-house counsel for a healthcare company, working on commercial transactions), and I’m planning on moving down to PV while still employed with my company, but there is a chance they will not allow me to do so, so I may need to find alternate employment and could use advice from an expat in, or familiar with, the legal field. As for my wife, she is a respiratory therapist but my understanding is that Mexico does not employ such people in its hospitals, so she is looking to enter the real estate sales field while here in Pennsylvania, and transfer those skills to PV, and she is also considering working as a personal trainer in PV, and we are wondering how feasible it would be for her to enter those trades.
hey guys!!! I lived in Doylestown and went to CB West! Small world! Hope you are well!
