Employed or Retired: Semi-retired
Where did you live previously: Carlsbad, California
What part of town do you live in: Downtown Centro
Why did you decide to move to Vallarta: I moved here in May 2012. I decided it was time for me to leave the “homeland” (US). I decided I needed a new place with a different kind of crazy. I read an article in my hometown of Carlsbad about Puerto Vallarta and went on Google for a peek at the images. Wow, clean streets, not anti-septic but clean. So I packed up my car and headed to Puerto Vallarta not knowing what to expect since I had never been there before. I arrived and found a very cool place to live. I met many people from all over the world and made friends quickly. It was a lot easier for me than some because I speak Spanish fluently. I am very interested in connecting with active people interested in always knowing more. I have a motorcycle here which I drove down from San Diego in October. So if you like to hike, motorcycle, bike, dance salsa and occasionally talk about what others in the world are missing not being in PV, I am game!
What has kept me here is friendly people, business opportunities seem to be available and the perfect size town.
What other places did you consider: Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua
What were the main reason(s) you moved here: SAVOR! CULTURA! UNA VIDA SABROSA!
What are the top (3) things you have learned that you think might help someone moving to Vallarta now:
- Treat nationals with respect.(I already knew this)
- Be flexible
- Enjoy your unique privilege to be Puerto Vallarta
Hi Patrick, I love your writeup for Expats in Vallarta! You sound like fun! I have a dear friend whom I stay with in Carlsbad whenever I go back to California – I’d lived in San Diego County for 5 years, before I came to Vallarta. I tried to find you on Facebook but had no luck (not that I’m a big FB user)….so….here I am. If you want, send me a friend request, we can be
Facebook friends. I live in Vallarta most of the time and I’m here now
