Where did you live previously? Panama. Long time ago northern Minnesota.
When did you move to Vallarta? 2008
What part of town do you live? Marina
Why did you decide to move? From Minnesota for tropical climate. From Panama because of inflated real estate prices there and primitive real estate practices with limited secondary market.
Where else did you consider? South Florida, St Martin, Antigua, Grenada, Colombia and Panama.
What were your considerations? Large number of expats; vibrant & growing developing country; professional real estate market; first-world healthcare; up to date shopping like Costco, Walmart, super markets, malls; driving distance to US; excellent air connections from modern airport.
What was the main reason(s) you moved here? Vallarta has everything we were looking for and mainly had many people who have been here for 10-15-20 years or longer where in other countries people only stayed 2-3 years and got tired of it and left. Vallarta feels like home.
Top 3 things you have learned that you think might help someone moving to Vallarta now?
- Easier to make friends here than in the US because large expat group here and you immediately have something in common just by being here and not necessary to speak Spanish.
- Excellent healthcare is comparable to US at 1/3 to 1/2 the price with same-day access to doctors, dentists and specialists.
- Easy access to US by either driving the toll roads or by air on many airlines.
Mike or Sara,
I am wondering if you could help me locate a dentist in Old Town whom I visited last season. Her name is Dr Laura , but unfortunately I have no Surname. Her office is located just past CMQ hospital & pharmacy on the left headed to the tunnel , just past (east of RT 200 ) I am in the middle of a implant and family obligations prevented me from travel to PV this season.
If there is any way you can get me a phone number, I would appreciate it! the office is located on next door to her father’s home.

Hi Sara,
I am Trenie Penrod and a new member (looking forward to the 29th for the happy hour) and have received notices in my email that other expats have responded to my posts. The problem when I go “looking for them” they are nowhere in “sight”. How do I find them? I don’t particulary want them posted on facebook but do not know how to find them so I may respond to. Any help will be appriciated. I thought if you answered me. then if I found your reply, I “might” lol be able to figure it out.

You guys look great. Well, Mike you look the same, but Sarah is just getting prettier.
