Timeframe for a move:  Will be retiring in 5-6 years max and relocating to Mexico barring any major financial or political changes.

Where else are you considering:  Riviera Maya

Why Vallarta:  Relatively safe, beautiful area, great weather, relatively low cost of living compared to the states, cheap healthcare, love warmth of Mexican people and love fresh pico de gallo. 🙂

How can ExPats in Vallarta assist you:  I will be thoroughly studying and researching the area, the real estate market, information on getting permanent resident status and even micro details like beach erosion rates to know if the place I buy will still have a beach in front of it in 10 years.

I will have probably a million questions and am hoping that the info from the many experienced members on this site will help me make good choices and avoid some of the mistakes that can happen when making a major move and lifestyle change of this magnitude.

I have worked very hard for UPS for most of my adult life and want to make sure that my hard-earned money is spent wisely on my retirement property. Closing costs aren’t cheap so I want to get it right the first time and not have to sell.
