Thinking about moving to Vallarta:
Employed or Retired:
Retired
Are you:
Single
Where are you living now / where are you from:
I am from Florida, grew up in Tallahassee.I spent a few years in Alabama before moving to Cuenca Ecuador in 2015.
Timeframe for a move:
I am hoping to make the move at the end of the year at the latest.
Where else are you considering:
I have been looking at Panama and some other cities in Mexico, mostly Chetumal City.
Why Vallarta:
I had not been looking at Vallarta because I had just assumed that the cost of living would be to high for my monthly budget because Puerto Vallarta seems so much like a tropical paradise that I had no idea that I might be able to make it work for me. After looking on Craigslist at furnished 1 bedroom apts, I found that if I found the right place I just might be able to live a dream. I started doing all the research I could and the more I looked the more excited I became. Its one of the places you dream of retiring to. Finding this expat community who seems to really care about each other and seem to be so willing to help new arrivals with answers and important information just makes me feel like it could become home to me. I have loved it here in Cuenca but I find it a little to chilly for me (being from florida), and I do like the possibility of being able to have more expat friends.
How can ExPats in Vallarta assist you:
The biggest fear that I have is just if I will be able to afford to live there on my budget. Help in knowing what a simple 1 bedroom furnished apt. would run me per month would be very helpful. Is Vallarta a walkable city because I do not want to buy a car. Is there good public transportation? These are my main concerns and any help with answers would be greatly appreciated. Anyone that would like to friend me on Facebook to chat or messenger me would also be nice.
