Timeframe for a move: I do not have a definite time frame in 2015, but I would love to move within the first 6 months of the year.
Where else are you considering: I am only considering PV.
Why Vallarta: I’ve done a lot of research from International Living and other sources and I just love what I’ve read! PV seems like it would be equivalent to living in Southern California along the Pacific Ocean coastal cities but at a fraction of the cost and with good people vs high cost of living and people who seem self-absorbed in Cali. I’m from Northern Cali in the Bay Area and I’ve always wanted to live close to the beach but could never afford this in Cali. I moved to Las Vegas a few years ago because it’s cheaper to live here but I’m tired of the desert and I want to be close to the ocean and PV seems to have everything (from the beach, to restaurants and stores to technology and infrastructure that I’m used to having been born in Cali and spent most of my life there). PV seems like a place I could move to and more easily adapt to living outside of the U.S. Plus, I could finally get quality health cared (medical, dental, vision) that I do not currently have, but need. I am very excited to make my dream come true and move to PV asap in 2015!
How can ExPats in Vallarta assist you: What is the best source to learn how to move to PV, find a house to rent and get settled with banking needs (I bank with Chase, so is there a Chase in PV or what bank do I transfer my money to?) and get settled with health care (medical, dental, vision) for myself and my mom who has Medicare and BlueCross and pre-existing conditions (she’s a dialysis patient)? I can’t move unless I know my mom will have the same or better health care, so I need to take care of that for her, and I need to get health care for myself. Is there a social worker I can talk to about health care needs? What Realtor should I talk to about renting? Do I need a lawyer to help protect my family and I to make this transition?
