Who Is That Guy?
Hi, My husband and I have been visiting Vallarta for more than 15 years. About 2 years ago we found a wonderful condo in 5 de desciembre on a hill. tr has a nice breeze and a wonderful view of Banderas Bay. We are unable to spend our time soley in Vallarta because my husbsnd works part time. We live in a little town called Tiburon which is across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. We have a sailboat and sail frequently in SF bay.
In Vallarata we have a neighbor who has a dog namaed Barkley. He is a big boxer dodg and Teddy is a 9 lb white poodle/Havanese mix. He and Barkley are friends. I wrote a poem about Barkley and Teddy.
I am a retired Registered Nurse who did not have time to write poetry until my retirement. Actually, I couldn’t write poetry until I suddenly started wrirting about my friends and dreams, etc.
Who Is That Guy?
Morning, noon, and, night,
He is always within sight.
At first he stops and looks
Making sure there are no crooks.
Then he walks slowly toward me
With a gyrating, tail waging body.
Sometimes I come home
Thinking I will be alone.
Filled with relief, I silently cheer
Because suddenly he appears.
His timing could not be better
If I had arranged it to the letter.
My little dog, Teddy, is always ready
To say hello to his dear friend
From morning to day’s end.
Together they are a great team,
Seeing them, I smile and I beam.
Even when they aggressively play guard
Barking at people who pass by their yard.
Who is that boxer dog elite?
Bob, his Dad, rescued him from the street.
He rarely barks, but Barkley is his name,
He won’t admit it, but loving is his game.
His body language tells it all
And his message makes me stand tall.
Because I know he is our friend
And will always be there ‘til the end.
