HI Ernie – I don’t know if you remember me, but I also worked where you did, but in Advising. I knew that you’d left Canada after you retired and you’ve been my inspiration ever since. I had heard that you’d gone to Costa Rica and then moved to Equador. If one person can get the gumption to up and leave, so can we. We also had been looking to move to Equador (Cuenca), but the flights are expensive and the distance is a long way, so getting family and friends to visit we figured would be hard to make happen, thus we feel Mexico is a better option.

I am going to retire on June 1, 2015 and my husband and I have been dreaming about moving away from the snow, etc for years. We’ve visited Mexico about 6 times, three of them to Sayulita (25 miles north of PV) wthin the last 3 years. Have visited PV several times, and really like it. Because I’m retiring in about 8 months, we’re not going for our monthly trip in October this year to safe money. My husband is already retired for quite awhile now, so we’ve just been waiting for me to finish my job. It’s coming sooner than I think – but still way too long.

So, I thought I’d touch base with you, as I want to pump you for all kinds of info – things like paying income tax (this is my biggest worry – am I nuts or what), medicial coverage, insurance, what do you do all day once you are retired?. I’m wanting some adventure, travel inside Mexico, even to S. America for a vacation, but want to be permanently located in one area (not be a snow bird). We love the west coast, the people are wonderful and the area is so beautiful.

This is getting too long, sorry (especially if you don’t remember me). I was just so excited to see your name on this blog. Have looked at it quite a few times.
