In Member Profiles, Tennessee, Thinking of Moving to Vallarta, US, Where We are From

Status: Couple

Employed or Retired: Retired

Where are you living now / where are you from: Clarksville, TN

Timeframe for a move: November 2014

Where else are you considering: Puerto Vallarta

Why Vallarta: We were going to move to Boquete Panama but, was advised to look at Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and it looks like it would be a better option for retiring.

How can ExPats in Vallarta assist you: I am going to have to start over again on my research for Puerto Vallarta Mexico after, spending over a year of research for Panama. We were planning on driving down and shipping the few items that we are bring with us. We will have to have a house with a pool on the water or very close, long term rental. So we will have to find a realtor that is recommend. Any help would be great.

    Hi Ken and Other Half,
My name is Trenie Penrod and have only been living here since last December but have learned many new things as the months go by that are new and exciting. I am one of those people that “jump off cliffs hoping to grow wings on the way down”. I even surprise myself that I’m still alive and “my plan” has worked more often than not. When I arrived (with 2 overly stuffed suitcases along with my carry on then “the purse” that was also crammed passed the limit), I used all my timeshare weeks, then started looking for a place to stay for long term. Bingo, again I grew wings much to the surprise of my friends that I may be putting into an early grave and found an amazing gated community, 4bd. 3 ba. A/C, W/D and enclosed patio for a very minimal monthly cost but again wanting to move into town when the “perfect place” comes to my doorstep that I won’t be able to refuse.
I have loved every minute, hour, day and month that I have been here. I live a bit out of town ( about 1 mile N. of the PV airport) so it has limited me in meeting new people and within the next minute to the next year I believe I will move to the Old Town district.

On your next visit be sure to visit the expat happy hour which are usually on Tuesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. right on the beach in the Old Town area. We will welcome you with open arms and there will be a multitude of information that will fill you in about our beautiful paradise location. I’m not one to answer many questions (only been here for 6 mos. full time) but there are plenty of expats that are full of overflowing knowledge.
Looking forward to meeting you and yours in the near future, Trenie
