Rana Kangas-Kent & Allen Kent
Status: Couple
Employed or Retired: Semi-retired
Where are you living now / where are you from: We live in the SF Bay Area. Rana was born and raised in SF & Marin and Allen was born in NY but grew up in SF.
Timeframe for a move: January 2017 – it’s on!
Where else are you considering: We are not considering any other places…. we love Vallarta and can’t wait to get back down there.
Why Vallarta: The laid back, relaxed lifestyle. The people are wonderful. The food is terrific. The weather (although, being a native San Franciscan, Rana will be sloth-like during the hottest months in PV). Allen is retiring after a long, successful career and Rana is an artist. We truly believe we belong in Puerto Vallarta. We found an AMAZING loft to rent too! Inexpensive and fabulous!!! We will be hosting rooftop parties, so stay in touch!
How can ExPats in Vallarta assist you: Well, we’re just getting the ball rolling. A couple of questions we have are:
We have 2 cats. We’ve already read the extensive list of things we need to do to get them there with us. Do any of you have any advice? We were debating driving down, but that will be just too traumatic for them, I’m afraid.
Our loft is semi-furnished. I’ve been looking online to try to find some basic pieces of furniture, lamps, etc…. we want eclectic and colorful, but not expensive. Any of you know of an excellent consignment shop, or local artist. I’ve heard the flea market is good.
Rana is a singer. If anyone has any connections there in live entertainment / theater, we would love to connect.
Thank you!!!
Lots of consignment shops and I have a great hidden one with great stuff. Buy your car here as it is too costly to import into Mexico and a big hassle. I am a retired CHP office and we have lived here 13 yrs in September. My e-mail is fstphoen@juno.com

P.s. I would imagine you will be performing all over as there are lots of venues. Even our church, Paradise Community Church is located in the STAGES ACT ll theater on Basillo Badillo and HWY 200. upstairs on Sunday at 10:20 am. Great place to meet local gringos who live here full time of 3 or 6 months at a time.
