In Member Profiles, Texas, Thinking of Moving to Vallarta, US, Where We are From

Status: Single
Employed or Retired:  Retired
Where are you living now / where are you from:  I live about 45 minutes from Houston, Tx. I am originally from Connecticut, but moved to Houston 37 years ago. (Boy time flies!)
Timeframe for a move:  Year or so.
Where else are you considering:  My husband, who passed away 5 weeks ago, and I purchased land in Panama about 5 years ago, with the intention of building our retirement home. Although we love Mexico, the hospital in Panama City, Panama is affiliated with John Hopkins. Ric was a dialysis patient, and he found an amazing doctor there. Sadly, his health insurance was cancelled, and Medicare does not cover outside the states. We had to sell the property, and put our dreams to bed.
Why Vallarta:  Mexico has always been a special place for me. I love the culture, the geography, and the people.  I want to fulfill our dreams. I have read so much about Puerto Vallarta, and am planning a trip with my best friend in February, 2017.
How can ExPats in Vallarta assist you:  I have many questions. First and foremost, is it safe for a single woman in her 50’s to live there?

I appreciate this forum, thank you for letting me join.
